COPPER PLUS ELECTRODES

Q. What's the deal with these new CopperPlus electrodes? Do they help nozzle life or just the electrode? Are they recommended for just mechanized cutting or are they good for hand cutting too?

A. CopperPlus electrodes are a recently developed electrode manufacturing technology that dramatically improves electrode life. These electrodes are available for the Powermax65, Powermax85, Powermax105, and any earlier Hypertherm system with a Duramax torch. They work for hand cutting and for machine cutting on materials up to ½” thick, at power levels between 40 and 105 amps. If you are cutting anything above ½” then you probably will not see any noticeable increase in electrode life.

Electrode life in most cases with the new CopperPlus is more than double the (already industry leading) life of a standard Hypertherm electrode when doing mechanized cutting. The CopperPlus, due to a more difficult manufacturing process, is a bit more expensive to purchase, but is far cheaper to use as it lasts so much longer. Nozzle life, assuming you are using proper cutting techniques, will improve as well.
