LETTER FROM HYPERTHERM
It’s been a dozen years or more since I last had direct responsibility for one of Hypertherm’s business lines, helping to set a detailed product and technology roadmap for that business. I still enjoy taking active part in key project milestone reviews for new product development projects, but with each new project, I find myself increasingly reminded how rapidly the game has changed. What’s the most prominent change? In a word, software.

TECHNICAL TIP
Are you using shielded cable to keep high frequency noise issues at bay as a possibility for problems in your system? If not, you could be putting yourself at risk for many different types of failures stemming from high frequency noise contamination. One example (and there are many others) of high frequency noise contamination appears as strange or abnormal characters on your control or THC operating screen. A more typical example is when the screen just freezes and no actions are possible.

SUCCESS STORIES
INTEGRATED CUTTING SOLUTIONS HELPS IOWA FAB SHOP SAVE TIME
“Small business success is dependent on who is working in the shop. You can have the best equipment in the world, but if you don’t have the right people, it doesn’t matter how much money you spend on equipment.”
Curt Renaud, the owner of Curtis Welding and Fabrication in Iowa, is a big believer in the people he has working for him. He credits a large part of his company’s success during the past 23 years to the hard work, dedication and talent of his team of 10 employees, many of whom have been with his company since the very beginning. Yet, Renaud also understands the importance of having the right tools and equipment so that his team can do their job. However, like many small businesses, his budget is limited. He can’t just go out and buy the newest equipment to hit the market. He has to carefully consider where he spends his money.

Ask Jim
Q. I know Hypertherm has True Hole for making good holes but don't you need a HyPerformance system for that? What happens if you don't have a HyPerformance system? Do you have any advice for making good holes with an air plasma? I could really use some help.
A. True Hole is great technology. It makes it easy to cut bolt ready holes but yes, you're right, you need a HyPerformance system to use it. Here are the steps I take to get the best quality holes with an air plasma.
Hypertherm Innovations
A small army of Hypertherm engineers is busy day in and day out working to come up with better, more efficient ways of cutting metal and other industrial materials. One such innovation to come from Hypertherm's Research and Development labs is our SilverPlus electrode technology.
