TECHNICAL TIP
In Technical Service, we regularly speak with customers who are not familiar with the power of using watch windows on their control. This simple tool, indicated by the binocular symbol shown on the main Phoenix screen below, can help with many things such as:

•    Monitoring gas flows for your plasma system, particularly cut and gas flow during cutting
•    Understanding motion parameters like position or following error
•    Monitoring coolant flow to compare to what is optimal
•    Reviewing cut speed
•    Using the manual jog keys in lieu of a joystick
•    Visibility to errors which happen during cutting

It is not hard to set up a watch window, there are only a few steps, as outlined below.

First, on the main control screen, click “Setups”.

Then when the next screen opens, click “Watch”.

From there, the watch window set up screen will open, and it is possible to set up an upper, middle, and lower monitoring section in the specific watch window by selecting from the drop down list.

In the image below, a number of inputs and outputs were selected for the upper location, the cut speedometer for the middle location, and position parameters for the lower location. This is just a sample, you can configure watch windows to suit your needs and change them at any time. Once done, just click ‘Ok’ and you will have set up your first watch window and can now use it via the binocular symbol on the main page. As many as 10 watch windows can be set up through this process, and we strongly encourage their use!
